What exactly is a Solution Architect?
As the title implies, my job as a Solution Architect is to find solutions for specific problems. This gets a bit complex because it’s necessary to have a good understanding of both AdSecure’s needs and the technologies available to solve the problem which includes many different factors such as is the technology adaptable, maintainable, future proof and cost effective.
Here at AdSecure we tend to choose serverless solutions from cloud providers to be able to fully focus on improving our product and not on maintaining an infrastructure. The use of a microservices oriented architecture means that we can pick and choose the most appropriate languages and patterns for the problem at hand.
Describe your typical working day
This is one of the best things about working at a startup like AdSecure (not only as a Solution Architect but for all members of the team as well.) Usually there is no ‘typical’ working day. One day you might be carrying out R&D, investigating new and existing technologies, uncovering new problems to find solutions for, brainstorming, implementing code, web designing. I mean, they say variation is the spice of life!
How do you keep up to date with industry trends?
Curiosity without a doubt. Once you are curious enough you’ll find the right accounts to follow, the right mailing lists to subscribe to and the right articles to read. Here are some of the things I follow:

Constant learning is a basic pillar for any computer scientist and it’s something that I love to do.
Is there one AdSecure detection that you have enjoyed working on the most and why?
I loved the entire process of delivering our recent Threat Intelligence solution. We had to gain a deep knowledge of the technologies needed to solve this kind of problem which was fascinating. We also had to work out how we would handle such a large amount of generated data which was also challenging and needed careful analysis and design to ensure that the new feature would scale and perform well. I feel that we all produced an incredibly useful feature for our clients and we are seeing a lot of client interest in how effective Threat Intelligence is.
